Rafael Ramos de Burgos
About
With over 19 years of extensive experience in the field of physical therapy, Rafael is unwaveringly dedicated to integrating the latest evidence-based practices while upholding the highest standards of care that he has refined through his tenure in diverse clinical environments.
Rafael earned his Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Santa Cecilia in 2004. His pursuit of knowledge led him to embark on post-university studies in sports physiotherapy at the Federal University of Sao Paulo in 2005. Notably, his expertise was recognized when he assumed the role of an assistant professor at Paulista University in 2007, subsequently advancing to the position of Associate Professor by 2009. In this capacity, he delivered instructive sessions encompassing physiotherapy assessment and semiology, orthopaedics/trauma, and anatomy. His profound affinity for anatomy prompted him to undertake a Master of Science in Cell and Structural Biology with a pronounced emphasis on anatomy in 2013. His research centered on muscle biology and the curative attributes intertwined with the inflammatory process.
Acknowledged for his proficiency in orthopaedics and trauma, Rafael earned the distinguished title of Orthopaedics and Trauma Physiotherapist Specialist bestowed by the Brazilian Physiotherapy Association. While this is his primary realm, he has also adeptly attended to patients contending with neurological conditions including stroke, Parkinson's disease, traumatic brain injury, and other syndromes. His adeptness extends to geriatric care and the management of diverse chronic diseases. Notably, he has assumed the role of an Affiliated Clinical Educator at the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (FRM) at the University of Alberta.
Within his therapeutic repertoire, Rafael proficiently employs methodologies such as dry needling, Mulligan techniques, and isostretching for postural enhancement. His commitment to continual growth is reflected in his completion of courses in concussion management and pain relief. Remarkably skilled in manual techniques, including spinal manipulation, his instructional aptitude amplifies the experience and outcomes for his clients. It is noteworthy that he stands as the exclusive physiotherapist in Alberta possessing specialized training in Fascial CounterStrain, an impactful hands-on methodology designed to mitigate spasms across all bodily tissues.
Outside his professional sphere, Rafael dedicates cherished moments to his family while maintaining an active engagement in sports, including soccer and biking.
